We are growing nationally and internationally into one of the largest photovoltaic structure suppliers with billions of Rands in potential sales. Our Single Axis Tracker structure solutions are IEC 62817 certified assuring our clients of reliable and sustained performance over a lifetime of operation. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Designer / Draughtsman to join our team on a full-time basis in Port Elizabeth.
Job Responsibilities:
• Collect design requirements and specifications to create designs in accordance to prescribed codes and engineering data.• Design, update and adapt components and assemblies of mechanical structures.• Create and update technical drawings, mechanical schematics, 2D and 3D models of mechanical structure designs, including annotations, dimensioning and tolerances.• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, manufacturers, installers and other personnel to understand, requirement, verify designs and drafts, recommend modifications, and design to make parts easy to manufacture and install.• Create mechanical document packs, assembly packs and overview drawings.• Assist in the ongoing improvement of the company’s quality procedures and standardization efforts.
Requirements:
• Post-Secondary mechanical engineering or mechanical drafting qualification, or equivalent inexperience.• Five or more years’ direct experience in mechanical design and drafting using AutoDesk Inventor.• Advantageous to have AutoDesk and or CAD training certificates.• Experience in a manufacturing, production and / or installation environment.Other Required Abilities: • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.• Good command of English (written, verbal and comprehension).• Good mechanical, mathematical and technical aptitude (understand how things are assembled, operate and how forces affect operation.• Good attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and error-free work.• Ability to work under pressure, within prescribed deadlines, and in a fast-changing environment.• Good interpersonal skills, team player and able to work with minimal supervision.
