This is what people expect when they visit Thobeka’s Restaurant.
Thobeka Dondoshe started her business in 2007.
She recently added a balcony to her restaurant so customers can enjoy their food while viewing kasi life.
She said the number of customers has increased since she added the balcony.
“My customers love the balcony because they can see what is happening around them while they enjoy good food and music.”
She said other businesses also had balconies, but they were not like hers.
“Not everyone can afford to go to these places.
“I know people don’t have money, which is why I sell samp without beans and gravy for R10.
“I am not far from the taxi rank and my customers are mostly taxi drivers.
“I am thankful to everyone who supports me,” she said.
Thobeka said her business has had its ups and downs, but she never gave up.
“Sometimes things don’t go your way, but that doesn’t mean you must give up, especially if you love what you are doing.
“It’s not easy, but we keep pushing because we have families to look after. I am glad that I never gave up.”
Taxi driver Qedani Kawana (47) said: “We like how she prepares her meals, from pap to samp and meat. We will continue to support her business.”
