Residents of Diepsloot north of Johannesburg have taken to the streets to protest violence against locals, reportedly by foreign nationals. Residents accuse undocumented foreigners of murdering two community members this week and being involved in the killing of a police officer on Friday last week.
One community member said the protesters are seeking the removal of undocumented immigrants from the area.
Protesters have begun building barricades on the R511, the main road leading into the township. eNCA reporters have seen rocks and bottles being thrown at cars attempting to enter the area.
