Matric exam marking going well despite COVID-19, says DBE

The Basic Education department says marking of matric examination papers is progressing well, despite some markers testing positive for COVID-19.

Officials are visiting marking centres in the country, to ensure COVID-19 protocols are in place.

More than 2,700 markers have withdrawn, and over 200 have tested positive for the virus. They will be replaced by reserve markers.

Basic Education says it’s confident the results will still be released on time and as planned.
