DA promises one job per every household

Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane is adamant the party will be able to deliver on unemployment where the ANC has failed.

One of the DA’s key election promises is that every household will have someone who’s employed but with around 14-million homes in South Africa, is this realistic when there’s less than two percent economic growth?

Joblessness stands at around 27-percent, six million South Africans are out of work and almost three million have given up looking for a job and the DA reckons it’s due to the ANC’s failed economic policies.

“We need to deregulate certain sectors,” Maimane said.

“One of the key challenges in South Africa – the reason why people can’t hire people – is because it’s difficult to hire people. Ultimately more than anything we want to introduce a national civilian service where young people can work for a year and earn an income while getting the requisite experience.”

The DA has taken its campaign to the North West, trying to make inroads in a province where the party was pushed into third place in 2014.
