Position purpose and impact

We are looking for a Customer Service Representative to join Cargill’s Animal Nutrition (CAN) business in South Africa. In this challenging role you will maximize customer satisfaction and revenue by meeting customer needs and expectations. You will take ownership for the execution of a moderate scale of customer service activities, such as customer service operations, process development, planning & execution, customer interaction & business partnership, systems/data management, and reporting & analysis.
The Customer Service Representative role is the primary point of contact for the supplier/customer for all aspects related to contracts nomination and deliveries inbound/outbound. The role’s scope starts with the receipt of the medium-term planning, followed by contract scheduling and nomination, after which the process is handed over to the execution team. The customer service team also handles aftercare such as complaint management, customer performance metrics, or inputs on customer account plans.

Key Accountabilities:

Customer Service Operations (45%)
Solve day-to-day problems by executing a moderate scale of customer service activities with direct oversight, such as
sales and order processing, scheduling, amendments and cancellations
creation of credit/debit notes for customers/clients
VMI (vendor managed inventory) system updates
customer complaints and follow-up
issues involving invoices or payments
PO settlements for 3rd party activities, purchased products, supplies and packaging
Process development, planning & execution (15%)
Uses developing knowledge of customer service practices and procedures to execute customer service strategies
With direct oversight, may provide input to the development of demand planning strategies for a single site team

Customer interaction & business partnership (30%)
With direct oversight, inform customers about order status, invoices, contract balances and other less complex information needed to complete the sale
Coordinate with supply chain planning, plant operations, finance, logistics, and sales departments to fulfil less complex orders
Apply a developing understanding of customer service practices and procedures by executing the customer complaint process, including Complaints, Registrations in system, Allocation to right owners, Tracking progress of RCCA, Communication back to customer and sales, Closing of complaint to satisfaction.

Systems / data management, reporting & analysis (10%)
Maintain and update tools/systems that support accurate customer demand forecast as well as other databases within the business related to shipments and inventory management items.
With limited oversight, receives, processes and routes customer orders into the order systems.

Qualifications:

Bachelor degree (Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or similar)
Minimum 1-2 years of relevant work experience in Supply Chain/Customer Services or relevant customer-facing experience
Food / Feed / Agriculture / FMCG process-driven environment experience or knowledge is a plus
Business fluency in English
Excellent verbal and written communication
Contract Management knowledge
Understanding the customers’ needs based segmentation
Understanding of implications of all relevant internal processes and procedures on stakeholders (logistics, planning, execution, operations)
Positive attitude, open-minded, energized.
