Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula is warning taxi operators to follow the necessary COVID-19 protocols so commuters can travel safely.
That’s now that travel restrictions have been eased.
Short-distance taxis and buses have been operating at full capacity while long-distance transport is capped at 70 percent.
“The taxi leadership, I’ve been engaging with, and taxi visits I have undertaken — I am talking now as [the] minister — I have seen observance. Of course, there are those who break the rules.
“Our message to them: You’re not doing it for the government. You’re doing it for yourself, for your families because this is real.”
