Position Overview:
American International school of Johannesburg seeks to recruit an experienced nightshift cleaner to join our team on a Fixed Term Contract. The successful candidate should ensure that the school buildings are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. Buildings include but are not limited to, classrooms, laboratories, offices, and communal areas such as stairs, corridors, and sports centre.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Grade 12 is essential
Basic cleaning certificate is a bonus
Cleaning experience within a school environment is desirable
Experience of cleaning procedures and the use of cleaning equipment.
Knowledge of Manual Handling and general Health and Safety legislation.
Excellent time-management skills
Honest and respectful manner
Flexible approach to work
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure buildings are maintained and cleaned to meet the required standard
Perform daily routine and detail cleaning of campus building interior and exterior areas assigned by supervisor.
Ensure all work is carried out in a cost effective and competent manner.
Effective communication with all internal and external customers
Carry out visual inspection on all machinery and equipment prior to use.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and the use of Personal Protective Equipment where appropriate
Ensure visibility of slippery and other warning notices when carrying out cleaning operations
Be aware of Emergency Procedures
Adhere to cleaning colour coding at all time
Be aware of risk Assessments associated with activities.
Manage workload accordingly to avoid unnecessary extended hours
Show a solid understanding of customer needs, seeks out customer input to better understand needs, and develops ideas to meet those needs.
Follow through on commitments, despite time pressures or obstacles, and maintains relevant communication with customers until job is completed.
Provide feedback and healthy dialogue on performance and operational issues,
Adapts easily to changes and adheres to decided actions.
Successful candidate will be expected to assist in other duties within the department at times of heavy workload, sickness, and staff absences.
Working Hours
Dayshift – 07:00a.m. – 16:00 p.m.
Nightshift – 14:30 p.m. – 22:30 p.m. (Nightshift will be required to stay at the campus accommodation)
