Efforts to contain cholera cases in Gauteng

The Gauteng health department is hopeful that cholera will not spread to the point where it becomes difficult to control.

Three cases have now been confirmed in the province.

All three cases are linked after the trio developed symptoms on their way back from a funeral in Malawi.

“We’ve got a number of informal settlements,” says Gauteng Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko.

“People must not throw water next to where they stay.”

Nkomo-Ralehoko says she believes it will be stopped before it gets serious.
