Full job description
CHEF TRAINER (HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY)
The ideal candidate will be required to travel to the various group sites to conduct food skills training, monitor and improve food quality in the units.
This will be done to the satisfaction of the respective clients, with adherence to contractual obligations, budgets, and acceptable standards.
Responsibilities:
- Teach participants the basics of food and kitchen safety, food preparation, and making healthy choices and substitutions when cooking;
- Choose recipes that demonstrate key nutrition, food budgeting, and food preparation lessons;
- Assign participants kitchen tasks that allow each individual to gain hands-on practice and improve their cooking skills;
- Supervise participants in the kitchen, encouraging proper technique and gently correcting as needed.
Skills/Experience Required:
- Matric and NQF Level 6;
- Chef/Culinary Qualification is required;
- Experience in training junior chefs and staff essential;
- Interest and comfort in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds;
- Valid drivers license and own reliable transport essential;
- Ability to be flexible with regards to shifts and weekend work.

- Sober habits;
- Able to manage time and work under pressure;
- Able to remain calm and in control in difficult situations;
- Able to assist with daily cooking requirements;
- Able to adapt to changing role responsibilities when required;
- Able to actively participate in all kitchen activities;

- Able to thrive in a fast-paced work culture;
- Flexible in terms of working hours (shifts & weekends);
- Excellent communication and organizational skills;
- Great interpersonal skills;
- Would suit female candidates as interaction is required in the maternity ward;
- Own transport is advantageous.
