Overview

This position is being setup to oversee the finance aspects of a business unit which has been recently acquired by a reputable global organisation. The incumbent will be required to oversee a broad range of finance aspects covering controlling, budgeting, forecasting, billing and business support activities

Role & Responsibilities

Billing – Support the current billing process between our customers and our billing system.
This would entail preparation of supporting docs for the manual billing to issuers (until automated by our system)
Validating the invoices generated by our system
Other billing administrative duties including ensuring invoices sent out/settled within contractual terms, liaise between customer and our system, debtor recons where required
Payables – Support the current payments process between our ourselves. We currently have under 10 suppliers that we use regularly.
This would entail validating the invoices sent to our mobile workflow tool.
Other creditor administrative duties including ensuring settlement and sending of remittances within contractual terms, liaise between supplier and our mobile workflow tool, creditor recons where required
Assisting the business team with policy knowledge on T&E, procurement, etc.
Provide training where required
Accounting – Support the current accounting process between this business division and our mobile workflow tool.
This is to ensure that the accounting records are accurate, complete and accounted for in the correct period, account, division etc.
Ensure that all documentation related to IP transfers to MAPPL etc. are intact
Assist with information requests for c464 capitalization / reduction in share capital as a result of the sale of assets to MAPPL
Reporting
Preparation of monthly management accounts including variance analysis
Preparation of annual report to SBSA
Other ad-hoc reporting as required
FP&A:
Assist in the formulation and implementation of budget and revised forecast process within the set timeframes
Monitor performance of P&L versus revised business case targets, budgets & forecasts (Revenue & Expenses)
Liaise with O&T to track/monitor integration expenses
Single point of contact for any deep dive data requests on this business unit for region & global teams
Participate in deal discussions for new opportunities
Maintain database of personnel to be able to compare to spend
Lead planning sessions with local teams and feed into regional planning sessions
Provide ad-hoc analyses, data & support related to this business unit
Divisional Finance Officer perspective,
Assume full responsibility for planning, operating performance, and management reporting for our mobile payments technology company.
Partner with the business for development of objectives, strategy and play an integral role in execution as well as tracking of strategy execution plans.
Assists the DFO to provide financial insights to leadership and supports driving and execution of strategy by applying an understanding of key drivers, pricing and products; highlights areas of risks & opportunities and makes recommendations on resolutions
Manages aspects of month end financial close (revenue recognition, expense) in partnership with the business, the Controllers and Global Business Shared Service teams
Embodies the Leading Beyond Finance initiative by running and maintaining business models to analyse performance and business opportunities
Proactively drives and implements continuous process improvement activities and supports in maintaining a strong control environment
Ensures compliance with ERM policies. May perform control testing
Review of Sales incentives process
Monitoring of T&E budget
Active deals and pipeline review
Supports Director- DFO- Southern Africa in execution of all other duties as they become necessary.
Essential

Relevant qualification in business, accounting and/or a related discipline
Understanding of US GAAP and IFRS
A sound understanding of the diverse cultural, regulatory, statutory and taxation environment of the MEA region
Strategic thinker, detail orientated and results driven with a focus on excellence
Candidate needs to be hands-on, be self-driven and able to work in a dynamic and fast changing environment
Desirable

A high standard of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications especially Excel
Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills as well as experience working in cross functional teams
Strong relationship management and networking skills
Oracle knowledge is beneficial
