Load shedding case resumes

The court case to declare rolling blackouts unconstitutional resumes in the High Court in Pretoria on Wednesday.

A full bench is hearing the application brought by 19 litigants including political parties, unions, and individuals.

On Monday, Part A was heard virtually due to the EFF’s protest that took place.

Parties want the government to urgently exempt specific sectors and social services from power cuts.

In Part B, they want President Cyril Ramaphosa — as head of the executive — to be held liable for the human cost.

That part will be heard in May.
