A 51-year-old man is expected to appear at the Wynberg Magistrates Court soon for allegedly trying to kill his wife.
This after a hostage drama played out at a home in Penlyn Estate in Athlone on Wednesday.
The suspect held his wife and granddaughter against their will during a domestic dispute.
The police’s Wesley Twigg said the wife was seriously injured during the ordeal.
“The 52-year-old wife and the granddaughter were rescued. The victim was take to a medical facility for medical treatment.”
