Busisiwe Mothudi (Palesa) returns to Generations: The Legacy

Popular Mzansi actress Busisiwe Mothudi, who’s famously known for portraying the character of Palesa has returned to Generations: The Legacy. The SABC1 soapie has confirmed that popular actress Busisiwe Mothudi has reprised her role as Palesa.

Mothudi debuted on the show on Thursday, 21 March, and met Lucy Diale (Manaka Ranaka) in prison.

On the show, Palesa is Lerato’s (Candice Modiselle) older sister who was sentenced after commiting insurance fraud.

She did this out of desperation to put food on the table for herself and her sister after their mother died.

Palesa was involved with Kumkani Phakade (Vuyo Dabula), Minister Nkaba (Nimrod Nkosi) and was married to Detective Malinga (Andile Nebulana) on the show.

She’s turned into a gangster in prison and has reunited with Mrekza’s (Kope Makgae) wife, Lucy.

Sowetan reported in 2019 that the Generations: The Legacy actress Busisiwe Mothudi is a youth pastor when she’s not acting.

Mothudi revealed at the time that being a pastor helped her prepare for her soapie character.

“There are a lot of difficulties that Palesa goes through, from constantly struggling in life to missing out on opportunities. You can see that she is always getting beaten down and it would be easy for her to give in. I have had those moments in my own life, and I have seen it in the countless lives of others I meet.”

Mothudi added that the key was to believe in yourself and know your worth, even when others couldn’t immediately see it.

She also revealed she was paid R150 for her first gig on set a few years ago and warned young stars about being exploited in the industry.

“I was going to be paid nothing, but I fought for myself. I know what it is like to have that sheer desperation. People take advantage of young talent, and they are seriously underpaid.”
