Police used teargas and water cannons on EFF protesters in the Brackenfell area on Friday.
A large crowd was bussed in to participate in a protest.
EFF members returned to demonstrate at Brackenfell High School against racial discrimination.
Protesters were told to limit the crowd to 100, but large numbers of people arrived to participate in a planned march to deliver a memorandum of demands.
The police used teargas and water cannons to disperse the crowds before they reached the school perimeter.
The Cape Party was also present in support of pupils, parents, and teachers before being asked to leave as their gathering was deemed illegal.
A violent confrontation ensued earlier this month when a group of EFF members clashed with parents.
It prompted EFF leader Julius Malema to issue a statement vowing that party members would descend on the school in their numbers.
