Four people were killed when the vehicle in which they were travelling left the road and rolled several times before landing on its roof.
Four adults, all males, died after their vehicle lost control and rolled several times on Sunday, 4 August.
The incident occurred on the 59 freeway northbound just before the Kliprivier Road off-ramp in Ekurhuleni.
According to Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) spokesman, William Ntladi, it’s unclear what might have caused the accident.
“It’s suspected that the driver of a single hatchback vehicle lost control, drove into a ditch, and rolled several times before it came to a standstill. All four male occupants were found scattered motionless around the wreck,” said Ntladi.
He said three were declared dead at the scene, while the fourth occupant was declared dead inside an ambulance while receiving medical treatment.
“The scene was handed over to Ekurhuleni Metro Police officers, and the cause of the crash is still a subject of investigation,” said Ntladi.
