Thabo Bester escape: State to oppose bail applications for 2 accused

The tenth accused in the Thabo Bester prison escape case has been granted R10,000 bail in the Bloemfontein magistrate’s court.

Thabang Mier, a former G4S employee, appeared briefly along with two other accused Joel Makhetha and Moeketsi Ramolula.

Makhetha and Ramolula are facing Schedule 5 offences and will make their bids for bail on 11 July.

The state is intending to oppose their bail applications.

Mier is expected to appear again in court on 8 August, joining Bester, Nandipha Magudumana, and others in the dock.

In total so far, there are 12 accused in this case.
