#SAMA28: Full List of all the South African Music Awards winners

The South African Music Awards (Samas) weekend kicked off on Saturday night, 27 August and some of Mzansi’s favourite musicians walked away with awards.

Hosted by comedian Mpho Popps and musician Robot Boii, the night was filled with laughter and great performances by singers such as Master KG, Khuli Chana, Brian Temba, Puleng March, Ncebakazi Msomi, Reign Afrika, Mobi Dixon, as well as Joda Kgosi.

DJ and producer Chymamusique bagged his first ever Sama win when he walked away with the Best Dance Album for Musique, while Msaki won Best Adult Contemporary Album for Platinumb Heart.

Vocalist Nomfundo Moh scooped the Best Afro Pop Album award for Amagama.

Dladla Mshunqisi’s Umshunqo Reloaded earned him the Best Gqom Album award, and Amarato took the Best Kwaito Album for Ama Roto Vol.2.

Sun-El Musician and Azana walked away with the Remix of the Year for Uhuru.

Mandisi Dyantyis triumphed in the Best African Adult Contemporary Album for Cwaka, while Thokozani Langa took the Best Maskandi Album Award for Idayimani.

Amapiano musician Young Stunna bagged the Best Selling Artist gong for Notumato.

Jazz musician Jimmy Dludlu, who is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement award on Sunday night, 28 August walked away with the Best Jazz Album.

Iconic singer Yvonne Chaka Chaka was honoured with the inaugural Chairman’s Award for her work and sustainability in the music industry.

Commenting on the first night, RiSA CEO Nhlanhla Sibisi said they were looking forward to the second night.

“We are immensely proud of the recipients of these technical excellence awards. Their hard work and dedication to their craft has been acknowledged. We are incredibly excited about the main awards set for 28 August, and look forward to celebrating with South African music lovers,” he said.
