Job Description

MAIN PURPOSE: The assembly technician: Sets and maintains all production-related equipment/machines to obtain their optimum efficiency, he ensures that all planned maintenance is done according to the planned maintenance schedules and that all records are kept up to date. He will liaise with QA and production personnel to ensure that our high-quality standards are met and that daily targets are achieved.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS

Maintenance: Carry out preventive maintenance on all high-speed packaging, assembly and printing machines according to maintenance schedules.
Manufacturing of machine parts: He will from time to time be required to make new machine parts or repair old parts on both equipments in use and new equipment being built by the engineering department.
Machine setting: Develop the skills for the setting of all assembly machines.
Machine overhauling: From time to time be required to overhaul high-speed assembly machines.
Machine changeovers: The assembly technician will need to carry out changeovers on machines as and when required.
Production: Technicians are required to work closely with production and supervisory staff so that daily production targets are met. He will assist with operator and supervisor training on assembly machines and inform them of any standard procedural changes.
Safety: Assembly technicians are to ensure that the all equipment in use is in a safe working condition and that all hazards are addressed and brought to the attention of the foreman, supervisory staff or HSE manager. Isolate equipment through lock outs when required.
Reporting: Technicians are required to fill in job cards for work carried out and report any problems related to the non-performance of machines/ equipment and/ or both to the foreman.
Spares Management: Assembly technicians are expected to log spares used and keep all records up to date.

Working hours

Shift work (morning, afternoon and night), attend to call-outs, work weekends and overtime when required.

Qualifications

Qualified Fitter or Qualified Millwright
At least 3 – 5 years’ experience in a similar role working on high-speed machines.
Good mechanical background is important for the setting of timing on the cam-driven machines.
