Video: Pissed Kelly Khumalo declares war against ‘Christians’ who always judge her for singing Gospel

When musician and reality star, Kelly Khumalo released her hit single ‘Empini‘, the message was very clear that she was a soldier who is willing to “die at war” – as the lyrics of the song suggest.

Although many of us knew that the song was directed at her haters, it may be time for Gospel Music fans to stand up and catch their sub because Miss Khumalo has made it painfully clear that she will not be disrespected by anyone.

Having started her music career after rising to fame through the ‘Cruz Gospel’ concert in the early 2000s and later making the switch to Afro Pop, Kelly Khumalo knows a thing or two about the genre, hence some of her Gospel songs, including ‘Esphamanweni’ in which she features well-known Gospel musician Hlengiwe Mhlaba. However, it seems that it is this song that has caused her to lambaste fans of this music genre who have come out to “judge her” according to her lifestyle.

Taking to her Instagram on Monday evening, the vocalist had a bone to pick with fans who followed her on social media with the sole purpose of judging her every post because they assumed that she is a Gospel musician.

Not mincing her words, Kelly referred to these fans as self-proclaimed judges when she called them ‘Judge Judy’ and told them that she is “not scared of them.”

“Those of you who call yourselves Christians, stop! Because you don’t even know what you go to church for. ‘Our God, Our God’, Gha! Sies! The very same God that you’re talking about is the one that blesses me on a daily basis because he knows exactly who I am. I don’t try and put up a front.

“I’m no gospel artist and I don’t wish to be. I’m perfect as I am. If you have a problem as a fan it is very simple, f**king unfollow. It is that simple!”

This is not the first time that the star’s Gospel music stints draw negativity her way. In December 2020, she was seen ranting and expressing her discontent at the judges and organisers after losing out on a ‘Best Gospel Song Award’ at the Crown Gospel Awards.
