AfriForum loses court bid on Section 25

AfriForum has again lost a bid to challenge the constitutionality of the process to review section 25 of the Constitution.

The Western Cape High Court dismissed with costs an application by the lobby group challenging a previous judgment on the expropriation of land without compensation.

The court has found it’s not in the interests of justice to grant the application.

It said the matter is moot as it has been overtaken by events.A draft bill on amending Section 25 is currently under consideration.

The court says AfriForum has not been able to prove another court will reach a different conclusion.
