Load shedding: 3 000MW to be added to grid by March

A total of 3,000 megawatts of electricity will be added to the grid by March.

That is according to outgoing Eskom CEO, Andre de Ruyter.

The extra capacity is equal to three stages of rolling blackouts.

“We have been advocating for at least three years, we have secured additional imports from our neighbours,” said De Ruyter.

“There are delays. However, the matters are enjoying the attention of the crisis committee.”

Briefing Parliament, De Ruyter also said non-paying municipalities are costing the utility over R57-billion.
