Absa is reporting an increase in interim earnings. The bank is now resuming dividend payments. Group headline earnings grew five-fold to R8.6-billion. The bank says it is now in a better position than before the pandemic.
It attributes the growth to customer support and preserving capital and liquidity but it warns there are still risks in the short term. The group also expects the country’s economy to grow by four percent, after last year’s seven-percent decline.
