6 arrested in Western Cape for possession of unlicenced fireams, ammunition & drugs

Western Cape Police have arrested five suspects for the alleged possession of illegal firearms, ammunition, and drugs.

Police say four suspects were apprehended in Kayamandi in Stellenbosch at the weekend.

According to reports, the officials received a tip-off to search a house where the four men were found with a large consignment of drugs.

SAPS says the police also confiscated an undisclosed amount of cash.

In an unrelated incident, provincial police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi says SAPS members nabbed one other suspect in Mfuleni on Saturday.

“They apprehended one suspect, searched him found a 9mm pistol in his possession, and arrested the man for possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition. Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Stellenbosch and Blue Downs Magistrate’s Courts.”
