Police are on the ground in Hout Bay following a shooting in which four people were killed on Monday.
Western Cape Transport MEC, Donald Grant says the incident might be linked to ongoing taxi violence.
Taxi operators are feuding over a sought-after route from Hout Bay to central Cape Town, which has been disputed since MyCiti buses have been in operation.
Two commuters were also wounded in the incident.
Specialist detectives are investigating the murders, but have made no arrests yet.
Commuters have now been forced to find alternative transport.
