The Zanu PF youth league has vowed to ensure that young people in the country are given an opportunity to contribute to the nation’s development agenda by engaging various government departments for projects and employment opportunities.
The move which is set to reduce unemployment levels in the country will see youths being presented with opportunities in mining and agriculture, among other sectors of the economy.
Those with professional qualifications are set to get employment preferences in their areas of expertise.
Unemployment levels obtaining in the country have left youths vulnerable to abuse by agents of regime change.
Some are recruited to destabilise the country through demonstrations and as such the youth league is all out to ensure an end to this, says the arm’s Deputy Secretary Cde Lewis Matutu on the sidelines of a public lecture he held at Gweru Polytechnic College.
“Idleness is very dangerous, we want to ensure that our young people feel accommodated. We have started with ZUPCO where we ensured that vacancies that opened there were occupied by youths.
“We are spelling the vision 2030 to our young people so that we also inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship,” said Cde Matutu.
The Zanu PF youth league says it has lined up similar programmes at tertiary institutions across the country with some officials in the league set to meet youths in their specific areas of jurisdiction to outline the league’s strategic vision.
Hundreds of students from tertiary institutions in and around the City of Progress attended the lecture session for an interface with league officials on areas they needed clarification and assistance.
