Worker airlifted to hospital after being caught in industrial machinery

KwaZulu-Natal: At 02H11 Monday morning Netcare 911 responded to an industrial incident at a factory on Trafford Road in Alexander Park, Durban West Region.

Reports indicate that an adult male believed to be in his forties had sustained serious injuries after his right arm was caught in machinery.

Once the machinery was safely locked out, emergency workers could access the patient.

The patient was treated on scene by a Netcare 911 emergency care practitioner and once stabilised was flown by Netcare 911 helicopter to the hospital for further care.

The South African Medical Association (Sama) on Sunday said the stabbing of two doctors at the Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital in Kimberley was just another example of the hospital’s failure to adequately protect staff.

Police are still searching for the gunmen who opened fire on four men in Nyanga. The men were standing on a street corner when the occupants of a minibus taxi fired shots on Saturday.
