At 08H39 Friday afternoon Netcare 911 responded to reports of a serious collision on the corners of Katherine Street and Pretoria Avenue in Sandown Sandton.
Reports from the scene indicate that two light motor vehicle was involved in a collision resulting in one of the cars crashing into a light pole were the occupants became entrapped.
The Jaws of Life had to be used to free the patients, an adult female and adult male from the wreckage.
The adult female was assessed on scene and found to have sustained serious injuries, requiring Advanced Life Support intervention from Netcare 911 and Emerg-G-Med Paramedics to stabilise her.
Due to the nature of her injuries the Netcare 2 Air Ambulance was called to the scene to airlift the critically injured woman to hospital for further treatment.
All necessary authorities were on scene.
