Will Arsenal pay £100million for Wilfried Zaha?

Arsenal will have to pay a staggering £100million for Wilfried Zaha to prise him away from Crystal Palace.

Palace are adamant they won’t cave into the pressure of selling Zaha on the cheap having already let their other crown jewel, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, move to Manchester United.

The south London club are worried about a backlash from manager Roy Hodgson and the club’s supporters and if they let both of their star assets leave in the same window.

Arsenal will have to fork out £100million to sign Crystal Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha

Aware that Arsenal does not have the funds to pay a British transfer record, even if they sell striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Palace hope the seven-figure asking price quells any idea of Zaha leaving.

The player said in April he wanted to experience Champions League football but Palace wants him to honour the contract he signed less than a year ago. It is understood there is no buy-out clause which strengthens the club’s hand.

Palace will look to sign a replacement for Wan-Bissaka whose £50m deal to Old Trafford was confirmed on Saturday.

Belgian Timothy Castagne of Atalanta is a leading target although any deal is complicated by the Italian side qualifying last season for the Champions League.

Hodgson also likes former Eagles defender Nathaniel Clyne who is out of favour at Liverpool but there are question-marks whether the 28-year-old is the long-term answer.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Bournemouth and was in the side beaten 5-3 by Palace.
