It was a weekend for no-shows across South Africa, but it seems as if Babes Wodumo’s actions have driven one event promoter over the edge.
According to Daily Sun, Andre Lekota is livid with the gqom queen after she failed to turn up to his venue, BK Lifestyle Cafe, on back-to-back nights. The report suggests that she was booked to perform on Friday and even went as far as sharing a video asking fans to meet her at the Vaal-based night club on the day. However, when she couldn’t make it, she apologised and promised to make it the second day
Although she eventually arrived at 4 AM, Andre claims that her postponements and lateness endangered his safety as angry patrons took their frustrations out on him.
“The patrons accused us of lying to them and using Babes’ name to get people to come to the club.I was trying to explain but they became more angry. A number of guys attacked me with fists. I don’t know if they hit me with anything else,” Andre told Daily Sun.
Andre reportedly suffered injuries to his face and body. Crowd control issues have ruined several events this weekend and the promoter put the blame for his injuries squarely on Babes Wodumo’s shoulders.
“This wouldn’t have happened had Babes kept her promise. We’ll never book Babes Wodumo again. Once bitten, twice shy. I learnt the hard way.”
It wasn’t just Andre who was catching heat – the BK Lifestyle Cafe social media manager went through an emotional roller coaster on the day too.
