Economies around the world have been weighed down by the effects of the coronavirus. Sadly, South Africa has felt the financial burden of the pandemic hard and many people have lost their jobs. A video was posted on Twitter on Thursday by social media user @MmatlouLebogang, allegedly showing staff members getting retrenched at Mercedes.
The heart-wrenching video shows an emotional worker praying for his colleagues, who were all gathered around him in a circle. @MmatlouLebogang captioned the post: “This is sad. Retrenchment at Mercedes.”
According to another tweep, @kulanicool, the exact number of workers who were retrenched is 189.
