Eskom has warned that there is a high probability of Stage 1 load-shedding over the weekend.
The power utility implemented Stage 2 load-shedding at 9am on Friday morning and is expecting it to end at 10pm.
The utility lost more power-production units overnight as coal stocks continue to dwindle.
Eskom says load-shedding is implemented as a last resort to prevent a total collapse of the grid.
The power utility says consumers should check their load-shedding schedules on the municipal or Eskom websites.
The schedule can be found at http://loadshedding.eskom.co.za or by calling Eskom’s customer contact centre at 0860 037 566.
