The money in the Premier League has been absurd for quite a while now but everyone still keeps getting richer.
Record TV deals and ever-expanding international fanbases generate cash for England’s top flight on an unprecedented scale – and it’s all up for grabs.
Agents, owners, and executives get large slices of the pie but it will forever be the players who catch the eye.
It really wasn’t really too long ago that talk of a footballer earning £100k-a-week was almost scandalous – no one could possibly be worth so much!
Well, we’re far past that now.
In fact, you have to earn double that amount just to get into the eleven highest-paid players in the Premier League.
That’s right, there are eleven players in the league who earn at least £200k-a-week.
That’s according to the Mirror, who presented a list that’s unsurprisingly dominated by the ‘top six’.

Mo Salah – Liverpool – £200k-a-week
Salah signed a new contract last July after an incredible debut season. He broke the record for goals in a 38-game Premier League season on his way to winning Player of the Year and saw a hefty payrise as a result.
Riyad Mahrez – Manchester City – £200k-a-week
The Algerian joined City in the summer in a big-money move. He got a big salary, too, although hasn’t really justified the cash just yet.
Eden Hazard – Chelsea – £200k-a-week
It doesn’t look like Hazard will be on this wage for long. The Belgian’s contract is up in 2020 and he’ll either get a big raise from his current club or there will be a very tempting figure offer from Real Madrid. Lucky Eden.
Harry Kane – Tottenham Hotspur – £200k-a-week
It may still be a little surprising to see a Spurs player on the list but Kane deserves it. The England captain is well on his way to becoming a Premier League legend. Spurs just need to hope he’s content with doing it at White Hart Lane.
Sergio Aguero – Manchester City – £220k-a-week
Some players struggle to justify their wage but Aguero certainly doesn’t. City’s all-time record scorer and arguably their most iconic player – he certainly delivered their most iconic moment.
Romelu Lukaku – Manchester United – £250k-a-week
If Aguero has long shown his value, Lukaku still has a little way to go. The Belgian hasn’t quite found his best form with United after a promising start. Still, we’ll see what he can do at a healthy United next year.
Raheem Sterling – Manchester City – £275k-a-week
Eyebrows were raised when City gave a big contract to Sterling in 2015. He cost a fair amount and was far from the finished article. Three-and-a-half years on, however, and he’s earned himself a payrise. Sterling is one of his club and country’s best players – and he’s still only 24.
Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City – £280k-a-week
Probably City’s best player and the key to their incredible title win last year. He’s been injured for most of this campaign but few can complain about his wage. One of the best playmakers in the world.
Paul Pogba – Manchester United – £290k-a-week
This would have been an almost laughable figure three months ago but Pogba is finally starting to justify it. His renaissance under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer puts him as one of the best players around. Now he just has to do it for a full season.
Mesut Ozil – Arsenal – £350k-a-week
Now we’re firmly in silly territory. Ozil was on the brink of leaving Arsenal for free a year ago. After an embarrassing situation with a name about to feature on this list, however, they offered him an enormous sum to stay. Unai Emery isn’t the biggest fan, though, and he’s now paid a fortune to effectively play every other game.
Alexis Sanchez – Manchester United – £391k-a-week
If they could turn back time…
The Sanchez deal looked good in January 2018 – United were getting him for just one Henrikh Mkhitaryan and got to gazump City. Now, not so much. Sanchez has been a flop and time is running out to fix that. We’ll see what next year brings.
