Swine flu case reported in KZN

The KwaZulu-Natal Health Department has confirmed a case of swine flu in the province. That follows the death of a nine-year-old girl in Pietermaritzburg last week.

The department says there’s no need to panic as no outbreak of the pandemic influenza virus has been detected. It’s urging parents to seek medical attention if their children show signs of severe influenza.

These include chest pains and shortness of breath. The department’s warned healthcare facilities across KZN to be on the lookout for signs indicating a flu outbreak.
