IPL: Sunrisers Hyderabad impressive as they beat KXIP

Sunrisers Hyderabad 132 for 6 (Pandey 54, Shakib 28, Rajpoot 5-14) beat Kings XI Punjab 119 (Rahul 32, Rashid 3-19, Shakib 2-18) by 13 runs

Kings XI Punjab, who only had to chase 132, crumbled to 113 all out in under 20 overs as Rashid Khan and co. wreaked havoc in Hyderabad.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad went joint-top of the IPL table after a scintillating 13-run win that saw them defend yet another below-par score, days after they defended 118 against the Mumbai Indians.

SRH, inserted to bat, did not get off to a good start as Ankit Rajpoot took centre stage with some lovely swing bowling. He sent back Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson and Wriddhiman Saha early on to rock SRH.

Shakib Al Hasan and Manish Pandey stitched together a partnership to boost the total before Mujeeb Ur Rahman triggered a middle order collapse. Two more wickets for Rajpoot at the death meant SRH managed only 132/6 in their 20 overs.

Kings got off to a lovely start and were 55/0 at one point, with KL Rahul looking imperious. But Rashid Khan sent him back with probably the ball of the tournament that beat him all ends up and took the off stump with it.

That triggered a stunning capitulation as Thampi sent Gayle back with a bouncer. Mayank Agarwal fell to Shakib before Rashid and Sandeep Sharma ran through the batting lineup which had no clue what hit them. They lost their 10 wickets for just 64 runs.

There is no betting these days against Sunrisers Hyderabad defending a total, however meagre that might be.
