Soweto Gospel Choir takes Grammy award to Soweto Theatre

In commemoration of their third Grammy win, the Soweto Gospel Choir’s Grammy award will be displayed at the Soweto Theatre this summer. General manager of the Soweto Theatre, Nomsa Mazwai confirmed that the Soweto Theatre will now be home of the Soweto Gospel choir.

Fresh from their Grammy win, the Soweto Gospel will be performing at the theatre from this week until 3 November 2019. It’s part of the theatre’s initiative to celebrate and honor local talent.

The multi-award-winning choir bagged this year’s Grammy award for Best World Music Album.

In other news – No arrest yet in Abigail Kubeka assault case

Veteran singer Abigail Kubeka is recovering after she was allegedly assaulted by a taxi driver last week. A picture of the star’s injured face was posted on social media on Thursday. She has black marks near her eyes and a swollen lip.

According to Sowetan, the star was involved in a collision with a taxi driver in Soweto on October 16. A source told the publication that the driver allegedly punched Kubeka while she was trying to apologise. Read more
