SA drug mule caught with cocaine in dreadlocks heading home

Convicted South African drug smuggler Nolubabalo ‘Babsie’ Nobanda is heading back to South Africa.

In 2011 Nobanda was arrested at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport after she was busted with 1.5kg of cocaine stuffed in her artificial dreadlocks.

She told Thai officials she was supposed to make a delivery to a client at a Bangkok hotel.

Nobanda pleaded guilty and her 30-year sentence was reduced to 15-years. She has been released after serving seven years of the 15-year sentence and will land at OR Tambo International Airport on Thursday.​

In other news – EFF Student Command withdraws from Wits SRC elections

The EFF Student Command (EFFSC) on Wednesday withdrew from the 2019/2020 Student Representative Council (SRC) elections after saying the entire process was bogus and merely the university’s ploy.

Polling has been set for two days – Wednesday and Thursday. The results will be announced on Friday. Those who will now contest the elections are the Progressive Youth Alliance (which includes the ANCYL, Young Communist League (YCL), South African Students Congress (Sasco), and the Muslim Students Association) and the Democratic Alliance of Students Organisation.
