Riky Rick (real name Rikhado Makhado) has penned a heartfelt tribute to his son, Maik Daniel (3), as he continues to celebrate Father’s Day.
Taking to Instagram, the 30-year-old rapper said: “I don’t think anything could’ve prepared me for fatherhood. I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to provide for you, put a decent roof over your head or buy you new sneakers.”
He further reflected on some of the things he enjoyed doing with his son, “As time went on it hit me that none of those things matter as much as spending time together; laughing with you, dancing like Michael Jackson or building castles with the mud outside.”
He ended the post by reflecting on the past and thanking his son for changing him for the better, “My father was a good man but I wish he could’ve been allowed the space not to have to chase money his whole life, I wish I could’ve told him ‘PAPA, ALL I NEED IS YOU’. But as you know in life we cant wish to change the past. All we can do is realize that everyday is a new opportunity to create our future. Everyday is a chance to improve ourselves and all we have to do is take the first step. Thank you my son. You turned a scared young man into a proud father. I LOVE YOU ?”
Speaking about Maik in another post to his one million followers, Riky said, “My greatest achievement will be making sure my seed understands that the world is a place of limitless possibilities. You make the rules.”
Riky is also stepdad to his wife Bianca’s daughter, Jordan (8), from a previous relationship.
