Names of eight killed in Denel factory explosion released

The names of the eight Rheinmetall Denel Munition workers, who died in an explosion in September have been released.

The victims, most of whom worked as operators, were aged between 19 and 41.

They were killed in an explosion at Denel’s manufacturing plant in Somerset West.

Investigations into the cause of the explosion are underway but authorities say it could take months to establish the cause.

The names of the deceased are as follows;

Nico Angelo Samuels, aged 41, plant supervisor

Stevon Robert Isaacs, aged 51, team leader

Mxolisi Sigadla, aged 40, operator

Bradley Tandy, aged 19, operator

Jamie Lesley Haydricks, aged 24, operator

Jason Hartzenberg, aged 22, operator

Triston Lance David, aged 22, operator

Thandolwethu Mankayi, aged 27, operator
