Truck driver critically injured after crashing into emergency vehicles

KwaZulu-Natal: At 16H07 Wednesday afternoon, Netcare 911 responded to a collision on the N3 East Bound, Near Shongweni, Durban West Region.

Reports indicate that while emergency services were attending to a collision in the centre median, the driver of a heavy motor vehicle transporting ore lost control, resulting in the vehicle crashing into multiple emergency vehicles and a rollover. Medics assessed the collision and found that the adult male driver had sustained critical injuries.

On scene were the Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services, Government EMS, Hillcrest SAPS and the Marianhill Road Traffic Inspectorate.

The Fire and Rescue Services used hydraulic tools to free the man while emergency care practitioners treated him. Once stabilised, the patient was transported to the hospital for further care.
