Prophet Bushiri’s church leaders in S.e.x scandal

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) church leadership in Zimbabwe has been rocked by an alleged s_x scandal, which has led to members calling for the immediate investigation and removal of the accused parties from the helm of the church.

The church, which was established in Zimbabwe in 2015, has had its own fair share of problems but nothing compared to recent events.

Exactly two years ago Prophet Bushiri, warmly known as Major allegedly disowned the church after it came under fire for posting a picture of a child said to have been healed from HIV/Aids on their Facebook page.

His then spokesperson, Mr Maynard Manyowa told this publication that the church was not registered under Prophet Bushiri’s flagship.

Despite the denial, the church was officially launched by Prophet Bushiri’s wife, Prophetess Mary Bushiri in May 2017, where thousands of people attended.

During the official opening which was attended by an estimated 15 000 people in Bulawayo, Prophetess Bushiri even announced plans to grow the church in the country.

ECG church in Bulawayo is now faced with a s_x scandal, which has sucked in members of the leadership.

Church elders alleged that the relationship between two named individuals has been going on for some time, with the leader also linked to other members of the church.

“They have been involved for a long time now.

“They may deny it now because it has become public but they both know the truth and this is even known within our church,” said a church elder who preferred anonymity, referring to a church leader.

He went on to allege there was a near confrontation at the church last Sunday between a church senior member and the wife of a man she is accused of having an affair with.

Contacted for comment the man’s wife preferred to remain mum on the matter.

“I have nothing to say,” she said.

Other parties said to be involved in the matter also vehemently denied.

“The acting national pastor of the church Pinias Sibanda said the rumours were unfounded.

“It’s a lie. People are just bent on destroying the body of Christ. Instead of this why don’t you write a better story of our groundbreaking event?

“We have purchased land where we will be building a megachurch in Bulawayo,” he said.
