Pretoria high court to hear FITA’s application for appeal next week


Some hope for cigarette smokers. The legal challenge against a high court ruling, upholding of the ban on cigarette sales, will be heard on 15 July.

The Fair Trade Independent Tobacco Association (Fita) has been granted leave to appeal the decision.

It will go head-to-head with Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs ministry via Zoom. Tobacco ban: Fita files an application for leave to appeal

Government banned the sale of tobacco products when the country went into lockdown in March. Last month, the High Court in Pretoria ruled against Fita.
