President Cyril Ramaphosa has rejected calls for the lifting of the alcohol ban. Ramaphosa has instead directed liquor sellers to seek economic relief through programs offered by government.
This after the Gauteng Liquor Forum demanded that the total ban on alcohol sales for the period of the lockdown be lifted. The forum had previously threatened court action if this does not happen. It said the ban is unreasonable and unconstitutional.
Meanwhile, some regulations have been relaxed but government has not lifted the ban on the sale of alcohol or cigarettes. Coronavirus Hotline Number: 0800 029 999 from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday
