PICTURES of ZIMRA warehouse in fire

A Zimra warehouse caught fire this Tuesday morning destroying property whose value is yet to be ascertained though speculated to be running into millions.

The building houses goods seized from travellers.

According to unconfirmed reports, it all began with a cloud of smoke was seen coming out of the warehouse and the fire is then said to have started.

The huge inferno rippled through the entire building and also destroyed goods kept inside.

“This is very unfortunate. We are now dealing with disasters periodically at the border while our capacity to contain them is still limited,” said Mrs Kelibone Ndou, Chairperson Beitbridge District CPU Committee.

It was also evident that the fire-fighting crews from Beitbridge Municipality and the border were struggling to contain the inferno due to lack of capacity.

The small engines had to drive back and forth to refill water several times before they could arrest the disaster.

This becomes the second fire to raze down a state warehouse at the border post within a 3-year period.
