One deceased, four injured in R33 New Hanover collision

KwaZulu-Natal: At 06H45 Monday morning, Netcare 911 responded to a collision on the R33 in New Hanover.

Reports indicate that an SUV and car were involved in a head-on collision. Medics assessed the scene and found that the driver of the car, an adult male, had sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene.

From the SUV, three adults and a 4-year-old female sustained moderate injuries. All the injured were all treated on scene before being transported by government ambulance to hospital for further care.

In More News – Farmer who allegedly defrauded Ters fund expected back in court

A Graafwater farmer who is alleged to have exploited vulnerable workers and defrauded the UIF Covid-19 Temporary Employer/Employee Relief Scheme (Ters) fund, is expected back in court next month.

The Dagbreek Farm farmer was granted R5 000 bail during a brief appearance at the Clanwilliam Magistrate’s Court last week, following his arrest on September 16.

The Department of Employment and Labour had worked with police to track down the farmer who allegedly defrauded the fund of R109 376.39, claiming Ters for seven employees for the period of March 27 until September 15, without their knowledge. Read More
