National Grants Coordinator needed urgently: APPLY NOW

Bellville, Western Cape

Full responsibility for central pre- and post-award administrative processes linked to national grants (currently MRC, SKA, CANSA, NLC, and most NRF funding instruments).

The duties include the following:
Identifying and disseminating information on research funding opportunities to possible applicants;
Managing application process;
Quality assurance of and validating applications in consultation with the Director: Research Integrity and National Grants;
Providing guidance to researchers with regard to funding opportunities;
Coordinating application results from funders and appeals processes;
Compiling and updating database of applications and outcome data;
Managing post-award adherence to funder requirements;
Managing student nominations for grant holder linked support on NRF grants;
Assisting grant holders;
Coordinating Annual Progress Reporting;
Representing SU at local, regional and national forums;
Developing and updating support resources;
Training and capacity development;
Reporting;
Financial and technical audits;
Participating in developing Research Management capacity.

Master’s degree, plus three years’ relevant administrative experience within a computerized environment;
Experience and knowledge of research management;
Ability to work independently and accurately under extreme pressure and to cope with more than one task at once;
Ability to independently source and master relevant information;
Ability to interact with high levels of diplomacy and tact with a diverse range of individuals, both internally and externally;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Sound problem-solving skills: logistical and analytical and numerical skills;
Excellent organizational skills;
An extremely high work ethic and advanced computer literacy.

Experience of research administration in a higher education environment;
Knowledge of SU’s administrative systems;
Knowledge of the NRF and MRC’s systems and procedures;
Project Management experience;
