Mzansi Radio reshuffles shock listeners

Mzansi Radio reshuffles shock listeners.”Beware the ides of March. it’s SABC radio madness season. Spare a prayer for your favourite radio personality shame they are going through the most…the sidekicks are peddling the news the most, lobbying is worse than ANC conference, iNyanga’s are on FaceTime. Kubi this week.” Tweeted Penny Lebyane.

These words gave off some kind of a “danger zone” that some of our favourite radio personalities are currently threading on, as it is known that the month of March serves as a reshuffle season within the realm of radio in South Africa.

This past weekend, various reports surrounding bizarre reshuffling of radio hosts and even non-renewal of contracts sent shock waves across various sectors of staunch lovers of radio.

Masechaba and Thembisa

In its entirety, the breakfast team on South Africa’s much-revered radio station, Ukhozi FM has been moved to other slots. Including a firm favourite, Sipho Mbatha commonly known as Sgqemeza, who will now be hosting a show called, Sithakela Isizwe from Monday to Thursday at 8PM. Many can not wait to listen to how the deep-voiced radio broadcaster will go about executing his duties as host hence they have come to get used to hearing Sgqemeza broadcasting in the morning with his co-host, Nongcebo Mckenzie.

Also in the same lane, is another giant SABC radio station, Metro FM. The station has terminated contracts of well known media personalities, including, former Our Perfect Wedding(OPW), Tembisa Mdoda, Rams Mabote and Masechaba Ndlovu. Another one of SABC ‘s crucial radio station is SAFM, the powers that be have decided to no longer secure the talents of seasoned broadcasters, Earnest Pillay and Criselda Dudumashe.

Other respected names on Ukhozi FM that have been given the boot are Sthandwa Gama and another firm favourite, Ngizwe Mchunu.

Ukhozi FM hardly dries out of talented and entertaining radio broadcasters as another one of its finest, Selby Mkhize, better known as ”Selbyonce” , who has been moved from the smash hit afternoon show, Woza Nabangani Bakho, will now be partnered with Siya Mhlongo. These two will be hosting a mid-day show called, Ndiza Nathi.

The new programming at the SABC will be effective on 1 April 2019.
