Mrekza’s film and Tv Academy takes off

ACTOR Kope Makgae, known as Mrekza in Generations: The Legacy, has opened a film and TV academy. He told Daily Sun he wanted to nurture local talent through the Wyza Media Academy in Seshego, Limpopo. It opened in July and would be re-opening in February, offering courses in film and TV communications, TV business, project management and interpersonal skills.

He said there were also courses to educate students about their legal rights in entertainment. The 34-year-old said he wanted to give rural people the same skills as those in big cities.

“This will enable them to tell their stories, find employment and open independent production houses. We have 32 amazing students who beat the odds due to the project. We can cater for up to 250. We want to build production studios and hire out equipment. We are confident the pledges of Limpopo Arts and Culture MEC Thandi Moraka will help this become our own Hollywood.”
