The Mtsweni family and a motor mechanic escaped death in a horrific accident in Leslie, Mpumalanga, on Friday. This after a speeding truck driver lost control, causing the vehicle to land on the palisade fence before hitting the three family cars and house. All the cars caught fire, that also spread to the house.
Shocked Muzi Mtsweni (41) said the truck went straight to his home fence, hitting it before ploughing onto his three cars while the mechanic was working on one of them. It then stopped just before going up in flames.
The fire also spread to his house with his family inside. It left his wife Florence Mabuza (44), three kids Promise (seven), Sphesihle (eight), and Fezile (13) as well as motor mechanic Skhosana (57) hospitalized from the burn injuries.
“This all happened so fast. The truck landed on the palisade fence of my home.
As all cars went up in flames, the truck driver managed to jump out of the truck.
My wife and three kids ran out of the burning house, screaming for help,” Mtsweni said.
He said he was thankful to the residents who put out the fire using water and sands, even though it was just too strong.
“The fire destroyed my cars and partly burnt the house, causing it to crack. I am relieved that the truck management arrived and offered to settle the expenses,” he said.
