COMEDIAN Mpho Popps has been moered by four tsotsis. This as he was being robbed outside the popular Soweto chesa nyama, Kwalichaba. The 32-year-old seasoned funnyman has since opened a case of common robbery at the Orlando Police Station.
According to the seasoned comedian’s statement filed two weeks ago, he was ambushed while making his way toward his car around 10pm. He said one of the four unknown men grabbed him while others punched him in the face and robbed him of his cellphone.
Read the document, in part: “The complainant reports he came out of Kwalichaba, walking toward the motor vehicle and was approached by four coloured males. One of the males grabbed him and the others punched him in the face and started searching him and ran away with his cellphone. The total value of the cellphone is R2 000.”
This wasn’t the first time the award winning comedian had fallen victim to thugs. Sunday Sun previously reported that his car had been broken into in Jozi. When called for comment, the award winning stand-up comedian refused to talk about the incident citing that would undermine the investigation processes.
“I don’t wanna talk about it because it is still being investigated,” he said. Police spokesman Kay Makhubele confirmed a case was opened but no arrests have been made.
